Bio/Description

Jenny Wiley Legath is Associate Director of the Center and served as Acting Director for the 2019-2020 academic year. She received her A.B. from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, her M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and her Ph.D. from Princeton University’s Department of Religion in 2008. Her first book, Sanctified Sisters: A History of Protestant Deaconesses, was published in 2019 by New York University Press. Her current research addresses religion, firearms, and gender. Dr. Legath leads a section of the Culture, Society and Religion and Workshop (REL 517) for CCSR and teaches REL100: Religion and the Public Conversation in the Fall semester.
