Event Description

Join the hosts of the popular (and CCSR-sponsored) podcast “Women Who Went Before” to learn about all that is involved in creating an academically informed podcast that is also accessible to a general audience. They will talk about the nuts and bolts of podcasting—how they developed the podcast and create each episode—as well as positioning the project for career growth.

This gynocentric podcast brings to life marginalized voices from the ancient world and connects these women to present-day concerns. Interviewing scholars from a variety of disciplines and approaches, Season 1 asks the big questions like, “How can we recover the voices and stories of women from an ancient world documented by men?” Season 2 studies women’s bodies through their lifecycles, from Greco-Roman medical science to Egyptian childbirth customs. Women Who Went Before was named by Feedspot as one of the 15 Best Women’s History Podcasts for 2025 and ranks in the top 10% of podcasts globally. Beloved by a general audience and experts alike, the podcast has been assigned in university and seminary classrooms across the United States.

Lunch will be served. RSVP required: Email [email protected] by 3/21. Space is limited, with preference given to CCSR affiliates.
