On September 13, the faculty of Princeton University voted to approve the name change of the Center for the Study of Religion to the Center for Culture, Society and Religion. The new name underscores that both the Humanities and the Social Sciences sit at the heart of the Center's work and highlights the interdisciplinarity of its endeavors. It also signals openness to an even broader range of departments and fields in which our colleagues and students engage with religion in varied cultural and social contexts. The Center's new identity reflects the Center's commitment to the potential for broad socio-cultural significance in the study of religion.
